Pluspunten
The company is large and established. The overall company culture is good and there are ways for employees to be get involved in events, resource groups, and volunteer opportunities. I think the new CEO has a good head on his shoulders and a vision for growth. Within product marketing, you get to work with many other product, program, and marketing functions. Many of these people are incredibly smart and great to work with. Several groups tend to have a "deliver the bare minimum" outlook, but this is rare. The people are really amazing, and probably the best part. The company is always trying to do a million things, which means you learn a lot and get a lot of exposure in a short time. In this role, you need to be very comfortable taking charge of your own work. A pro is that you get a lot visibility if you want it. Compensation is fair at the company overall, and pretty good, but not as good as other tech companies. This is still a consumer electronics company at heart. Employee stock purchase program can be very lucrative. Other benefits are pretty good. Not free, but medium inexpensive. Best health benefit is on-site wellness centers. Big plus - it's really easy to move around and try different positions in different groups.
Minpunten
The industry is very cyclical, which means periods of growth and $ followed by periods of layoffs and tightening the belt. The change and restructuring is not that stressful, but every few years it seems to happen and shake things up. All the marketing teams in all orgs seem to be ran very lean. This is a sales-driven org and more reactive than proactive. The execs always want more and for us to push the boundaries but there is never enough time, people, or $ to do anything above and beyond in a meaningful way. There is an attitude of "take time for yourself and personal wellbeing.... but don't ever let anything drop or be our group's fault" among leadership in this group. It is a mixed message and somewhat disheartening. Compensation in this role is less than at other places and it can be slow to move up.
