Pluspunten

The risk teams I worked with (before the merger with Athenium) were a great group - energetic, engaged, and inclusive. Very collaborative environment with the expectation that you'll be self-sufficient as well. The product itself was multi-tiered and exciting, with a ProdDev team that listened to customer feedback - but also created features it seemed for the sake of showing off skills rather than for true purpose. Overall, cross-team support was great. My work relationship with my manager and team was really good, supportive. Great benefits package, particularly after the Athenium merger. Flexible WFH opportunities. Occasional company-wide social events and interactions kept the atmosphere amicable in the least, even after the merger.

Minpunten

Communication - From interview process through my last days, communication from the upper echelons to the mid-management and team levels was always poorly handled. There never was a consistent approach to sharing information - regardless of confidentiality or significance - from the C-level to the lower ranks, even when it was requested time and time again. Even when I reached out to former clients as references a week after being laid off, they had no idea that I'd been laid off; there had been no communique that had been sent out stating that some employees had been let go "due to the pandemic and current economic situation". Favoritism - for years, those in good standing or favor with the CEO or leadership were promoted, regardless of their experience. And if you wound up on the wrong side of leadership (i.e., CEO), it didn't forbid well for you. This was particularly tough for those who came onboard after the merger and didn't align themselves with leadership's thinking or countered with "other suggestions". Stability - while we were told that the outlook was good heading into 2020, even after the pandemic started there was no sense from leadership of being upfront with the company for a month - and then several talented, skilled people were laid off unceremoniously. This just seemed to be a case of smoke and mirrors, using the current situation to justify a different business agenda.

Pluspunten

Working with Weather Analytics, now Athenium Analytics, is engaging, transparent, and fast-paced. One of the most exciting chapters in my professional career, the company is growing, dynamic and welcoming.

Minpunten

This is a place for those willing to step out of their comfort zones and grow.

Pluspunten

The people who you interact with every day (aka the foot soldiers) are amazing, passionate people. Definitely love what they do, put everything they have into it. You have a chance to be free with your work ideas, pitch things that in a big company would never be allowed. Fast moving up the ladder (if you aren't cut) since no one is around for long. Work time is pretty lenient if there's not an immediate deadline, which helps with the random things life throws at you.

Minpunten

The management is a cluster. An absolute mess. No one knows how to tell a client no, and there is so much insider politics going on you'd think you were working in Congress. Some super long nights and days trying to complete a project on deadline, only to have another "fire drill" the next day. Complaints about working conditions, improvements to the system or ideas that aren't already being considered will be brushed off. Starting salary for the area is a joke. Some of the fun nights were really just excuses to stay later at the office. Telework days were often revoked with little notice for some deadline.
