Pluspunten
The main pro is that you can choose the times you want to work. I am looking to move abroad for 3 months of the year, so all I need is good WIFI and a laptop with camera and microphone. Secondly, you can get away without having to prepare material, as you just use the supplied slides (I actually find this frustrating as I would like to add and improve the material!) Thirdly, the pupils are so keen that you get a real buzz when you see them develop their English speaking skills Fourthly, as I get more canny with the booking system I will be able to secure more scheduled sessions . Fifthly, in the main the system is quite easy to navigate, although this has been self taught (see comment on initial IT training below!)
Minpunten
- Pay is low and although my average feedback score is 9.5, only about 50% respond, greatly reducing your pay. My pay varies from £6.92 to about £15 per 45 minute session - You book your slots and then you are scheduled lessons (if you are lucky). The scheduling can be done very late and you either have no time to prep or sessions are pulled or the topic is changed at the last moment (wasting any prep!) - Initial online 2hrs IT training was woeful - Can waste hours just waiting to see whether you will be scheduled a session or whether the session you have been scheduled gets changed
