The best way to handle the situatuon would be to ask them how much time left to resolve the issue, and then counter that for them and challenge them to solve it in that time. They will definetily be p*ssed off with that as they themselves won't be able to resolve it. Why its best, as its evident that they anyway will get a negative review for your attempt. Who then cares if they will hire you or not. Its better not to be hired to work with that same A hole.
