Python is arguably the easiest language on the earth which even a hotdog vendor in San Francisco can code in with one hand and serve you a hotdog with another. Why would HR ask such questions for a director of engineering position? Why on earth would I apply for a Director of Engineering position if I don't have the band width of overseeing a wide array of technologies in an strategic and language agnostic manner, and mentor the team, dictate on architecture and design?. If you had asked this question 15 yrs ago, that would make some sense to me!
