Last month, we channelled our inner Disney villain for the 15th Welcome Break Annual Summer Ball, in aid of the Welcome Break Charitable Fund. 💚 With the support of our generous guests and sponsors, we raised over £77k to continue the vital work with our charity partners Macmillan Cancer Support, National Emergencies Trust and local community grants. From our charity auction and golden balloon raffle to the silent disco, here are our highlights from the night! 🪩
We’re proud to announce that £156,000 has been awarded to local charities and community groups through the Welcome Break Charitable Fund Community Grant. The initiative is dedicated to supporting local communities by investing in projects that create a genuine impact in the areas where our team members live and work. These grants, ranging from £500 to £25,000, are helping to power incredible projects within 25 miles of our Welcome Break and Applegreen sites across the UK. Every application is backed by one of our amazing team members, ensuring we support causes close to our hearts. This is the second round of funding since the programme launched in 2023, and we’re already seeing the positive impact in the local communities. Now open: Welcome Break Hickling! We’re thrilled to announce the opening of our newest site, located at the A46/A606 Widmerpool Interchange, near Melton Mowbray, Nottinghamshire. Whether you're heading out on a road trip or behind the wheel of an HGV, the site has everything you need. It features a main fuel forecourt and a dedicated three-pump HGV forecourt, equipped with AdBlue. Inside you’ll find a mix of your favourite brands – Waitrose, Greggs, and KFC – plus a Starbucks Drive Thru for a quick coffee stop on the go. We're incredibly proud to have created over 100 jobs in the local community with the opening of this site and are wishing our team members every success with the new location! To celebrate the opening, join us on 2nd August when there will be prizes to be won and plenty of fun for the kids.
