While there are perhaps good intentions, Babel was extremely chaotically organised and its methods were outdated and old-fashioned sometimes. The few teachers who were more senior (who might have left by now) were working with 1990s approaches, which was really the learning culture. I think all or most MT members have never taught in their life and have no real interest in didactics or education. Of course not every MT member needs teaching expertise to run a business. You do also need sales and financial skill. But you can't help but think that at least ONE experienced educator might be useful to steer on educational vision and strategy. In my time, the head of education was a nice enough person but had never taught language and didn't know anything about the common practices and principles of our work. This left junior teachers without a guide or anchor. You can't run a school that way! In the end, this culture bleeds down to a school in which teachers don't matter, and teaching and assessment doesn't matter.
