What a ride it has been... it was a journey that started with big words. All seemed to be so promising. An amazing culture, one big family, great benefits. Until we found it wasn't anymore. In a few months time, more than 75% of the Benelux team decided to quit their job. Not because we can't deal with a bit of stress, not because we can't handle a bit of criticism or long working days. It was all caused by the culture and decisions made by management. To give some examples: - The bonus system was unjustly changed retroactively, leading to towering debts among the employees. Challenging it with a lawyer wasn't an option, as Insider 'wasn't interested in talking to lawyers'. - The team was managed through fear creation. If you didn't do xyz, our manager told us couldn't defend you within the organization anymore (and basically, you'd lose your job). - Promotions were made impossible through gigantic development plans of +100 hours that you had to complete in your own time. A promotion wasn't given simply because you did very good work and met your targets. - Receiving your bonus was a battle every quarter. You could work for a whole quarter to meet your bonus, only to spend hours afterward arguing with management because the system said you hadn't met your targets. - Benefits were plentiful for the Turkish headquarters, but the regional offices got nothing. Turkish employees got plenty of free lunch, drinks, champagne, you name it. In the Benelux, we still had to pay for our own tea. Ultimately, I saw colleagues break down, and I saw myself change from a positive person to someone who became depressed and came home with physical stress symptoms in the evenings.
