Minpunten

I worked at this company for one year, which initially offered a one-year contract. Prospective employees should be aware that the company culture often involves threats of contract termination for those who frequently express differing opinions or innovative ideas. The company boasts excellent engineering teams, which are a strong asset. However, the experience in supportive roles may vary. There is a noticeable lack of consistency in accountability, with some individuals, such as program managers, not fully adhering to their designated responsibilities like project management. This can lead to a disorganised work environment where roles and duties are not always clearly defined or followed. The decision-making process within the team is complicated by the presence of a product manager, a product owner, and a program manager, each assigned to the same single team. The company often sets unrealistic deadlines for critical projects, which places undue pressure on teams. Additionally, there is a noticeable lack of knowledge about fundamental project management principles, which impacts the overall execution and effectiveness of projects. Some people in the organisation struggle to differentiate between knowledge and opinion. While opinions are subject to discussion and can vary widely, knowledge is based on established facts and should be treated as such. This confusion often leads to unnecessary debates and impacts decision-making processes.

Minpunten

Turnover is high in all areas. Leadership has not changed for years therefore is failing to oversee and identifying the ongoing problems. Nepotism is standard practice.

Pluspunten

Good work/life balance. If you want just to sit and relax with a permanent contract - it's a good place. Promotions depend on your relations with your manager. Not bad for beginners, though for engineers you may meet quite old and rusty technologies (depends on a project), on some other projects you can play with new shiny technologies and even use them. You can spend up to two weeks to work on some innovation projects. It's even appreciated in a way. Outside of engineering salaries can be not bad. The company is obsessed with diversity and inclusion, you may try using it in achieving your goals. CEO is a good and open person who really cares about the company on all levels, but in the past he made several bad decisions in choosing his team, so different branches depend on different people.

Minpunten

Constant reorganisations of management structure which don't let the processes settle, so you'll be non-stop bothered with adapting to new rules instead of doing your actual work. Top management has no counter-balances, so they're free to break their own rules - promote friends, openly lying on all-hands, organise meetings in Barcelona when the company cuts all expenses, etc. Lower management tries to do the same and mostly it's being covered by their bosses. Though new top management looks more adequate, but the previous few years were a management disaster and currently the company is in pretty bad shape, Nepotism on all levels. New projects are being opened in India office, old projects are also being moved to India, the Dutch office is on a very tight budget for everything - promotions, trips, learning. Salaries for developers are below the market and almost don't increase, so prepare to fight for a good starting salary and leave in a couple of years. A lot of good people left in last few years. Irdeto used to have a very healthy corporate culture, but it was destroyed in past few years. I'm not certain what are the current values and if they actually exist (formal official statement doesn't count).
