    Invest in your employees and make decisions that actually make your employees feel valued
    Don’t tell your employees if they aren’t happy they should leave, you should be concerned and want to keep your talent

    Persado is a great place to work despite the rough growing pains. My coworkers come from diverse backgrounds and they are smart, driven and produce results! I feel like I work at a truly global company even though throughout the years it has been harder and harder to connect with my coworkers at other offices. For budget reasons the yearly global offsite was discontinued, making it impossible to connect and share knowledge with coworkers whom I don't work with directly. Even though the budget cuts are understandable (and even expected for a company at our stage) there was no replacement for how organic and fun it was to connect with other employees on the other side of the world.

    The product is also cool and a conversation starter. Working at an AI company makes you more marketable. We have a reputation with Fortune 500 companies. It is great to be working so closely with huge brands.

    Internal communication is scary. As part of the operations arm I witness a lot of backfighting. There is a lot of suffocating bureaucratic processes with HR and business operations. It can be refreshing to hear employees speak up about how they truly feel but at some point it turns into whining for unnecessary or ridiculous requests in the name of "culture". Both sides are at fault -- lower-levle employees aren't considering their attitudes and leadership is too stubborn to take employee concerns seriously. No one is willing to meet in the middle or see the big picture. There needs to be better internal communication and I feel like this is an HR/management awareness initiative. The "us versus them" mentality is not conducive at all.

    Part of this is we haven't had a very consistent HR department. I feel like HR is are trying to revive the culture of a small startup, but we're not that anymore. That died a long time ago...Some initiatives feel awkward and forced because the enthusiasm is missing. You can feel that even though some cultural things are getting "addressed", nothing is really changing. They seem to be making an effort but only on the surface level.

    Realize how new initiatives are perceived by the employees. What is acceptable to a small group of "deciders", isn't what the majority of coworkers want.

    non-sales and commercial teams are ok
    product has good results for clients

    it is incredible how very few of the original leaders and employees of the commercial teams - sales and customer success and c-suite are at the company anymore. while some turnover is expected, this level is unbelievable. the cause - horribly poor management starting from the top. no trust in employees, high degree of micromanagement and lack of autonomy are hallmarks of the current leadership in new york specifically. people who don't meet unattainable quotas are kicked out unless you do a good job of sucking up to the leaders, in which case you get a promotion and take over accounts. despite years of reviews and feedback about the toxic culture, management does not give a damn. focus is on targets, not employees or even customers. culture is diminishing - no alcohol policy recently instituted and hence no team happy hours and celebrations.

    Pluspunten

    - Some really nice people among the rank and file
    - Rationale use of technology (Slack, Gmail, quality laptops, etc)
    - You get to add a hot industry (Artificial Intelligence) to your resume, even if the 'Artificial' part of that statement is arguable

    Minpunten

    - Shocking level of incompetence at the leadership levels
    - A constant cadence of firings, including any strong senior leaders
    - Complete disregard for culture. The CEO told the staff at an all-hands that if 'you don't like the culture, you can leave' (paraphrased). Rather than work to improve the firm, they take a defensive posture to any feedback
    - Quota targets that are designed in such a way that employees have practically no chance to achieve their target compensation
    - People without sales expertise are placed in sales leadership roles (and then the firm wonders why sales targets are missed)

    Advies aan management

    Honestly, wholesale and wide-reaching changes are needed at the top. Anything short of this is simply rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

    I had the opportunity to work a few months in Persado at the company's premises in Milan, Italy. As a Project Manager I was proud to provide outstanding service to the clients I managed, thanks to the wonderful people I worked with: committed, passioned, talented.

    As a company, Persado provides its employees a support structure to help them succeed, and grow as a professional in a fun and friendly environment.

    Unfortunately I had to leave the company for personal reasons, but I would recommend Persado to anyone looking for an opportunity to work in a challenging and growing field, such as artificial intelligence applied to digital marketing.

    It would be nice to encourage more frequent face-to-face meetings among team members located in different countries, at least once every 2 months.

    Persado is an incredible company with great potential
    - the people are smart and passionate
    - strong culture of accountability and work ethic
    - fascinating product that actually works and has huge potential in the market
    - great work-life balance, never feel micromanaged, and flexible work from home hours
    - wonderful customers in an exciting industry
    - fun office happy hours and coworkers generally enjoy bonding or grabbing a drink after work

    Some typical growing pains of a mid-sized start up
    - a lot of org changes in the last few years (but nothing too atypical for a company at our stage)
    - high sales targets have been discouraging, especially during a year with significant strategy changes and sales reorganization
    - top heavy management structure

    - more team building events and summits. With teams spread out across the US, coming together in person really goes a long way for morale
    - more competitive stock options as a way to attract and retain, especially as employees increase their tenure at the company
    - keep being open and honest with employees, transparency is greatly appreciated

    Pluspunten

    - The product that we work on is really unique, and I enjoy telling people I meet about what I do, they can tell that I'm excited about it and its future and that excitement translates to the overall culture here.
    - Everyone is extremely supportive, within teams and across teams as well. People are willing to collaborate and help whenever needed, sometimes you just have to ask!
    - Teamwork is huge here, at least in my role - if there is a misstep, there's accountability of course but no blame assigned and everyone will help to work towards a solution.
    - There's a healthy work/life balance here. People at Persado are very motivated and driven, but also love to have fun. Management understands when you have to prioritize personal things (your family, for example) and will help to support you in any way they can.

    Minpunten

    - In some roles there is no clear career advancement path which might be in development but yet to be seen
    - Not much support for continuing education (e.g. PMP certification) would love to see something in place for employees to better themselves
    - Maybe transportation compensation could be looked into

    The people at Persado are amazing. Everyone here is really easy to work with, intelligent, passionate and helpful. Not only that, but the flexibility and work-life balance is second-to-none. That, coupled with the fact that Persado produces great results for our clients, makes this literally a dream job. It's rare to find a job where you like what you do, the people you do it with, AND have flexibility so I've really enjoyed my time here and highly recommend working at Persado.

    The only real "con" I've experienced in the year I've been employed at Persado is that I only see my boss and non-SF Project Managers on the Enterprise side once/year.
