Great hours, flexible, great teamwork with lower staff only,

Minpunten

Not up to Office standards. Office space is at the dining room table, or a desk in a bedroom. Extremely unorganized and hectic environment. No training, or very little at best. This is more a Personal Chef, Organizer, Dishwasher, run errands and taste tester of food and minimal executive assistant duties. More like a Household Manager in my opinion. Truly a VERY disorganized environment.

Flexible schedule and many growth opportunities. CEO see's the potential in employees for advancement: exciting projects & learning environment. Pay is competitive.

Minpunten

Not really a con - unique environment. Most employees work from the CEO's home office. Although everyone has an office, some may prefer to work differently.

We worked out of the CEO's house and it was fun having a bunch of dogs, free coffee, snacks, free gourmet lunch as an employee perk and an overall cozy atmosphere. All of this very quickly turned into a matter of "the benefits don't outweigh the negatives." No clear distinction in responsibilities as originally agreed upon at the time of hiring, clear nepotism, only white christians allowed even though it wasn't explicitly stated, unreasonable expectations for arbitrary deadlines, excessive workload, terrible pay, no benefits and zero opportunities for growth.

Minpunten

The CEO is involved in every single department even though it wouldn't fall under her expertise and she would constantly disrespect the employees in those departments who had actually received degrees in these particular areas. She would claim that she wanted someone to supervise her employees so that we're not wasting her time with questions and concerns that would be beneath her and at the same time heavily micromanage every single thing anyone was doing. Very clearly exploitative of anyone who didn't openly declare themselves as a white, christian, heteronormative man/woman. This is a medical device company and religion is at the center of everything. Even the free lunch as an employee perk became conditional after a few months - if you wanted the free lunch, you sit at the table and eat with everyone, you are mandated to participate in saying a prayer beforehand and you have to spend your break after each meal studying/debating bible verses or you can opt out of it and manage your own lunch. Also, a very clear superiority complex that she would also constantly highlight with reminders of how capable she was of running her entire company on her own and how much more adept she was than anyone else at doing our jobs, horrible attitude masked by a self-righteous, "good christian samaritan" demeanor, completely tone-deaf and so wasteful. Also, toxic positivity is her best friend and complete disregard for labor laws which she definitely violated. And if you were even remotely late, she would dock an entire hour of pay, then expect you to work as late as possible without paying you any overtime. No sick leave or paid time off. In fact, she would question her employees motives if they called in sick and accuse them of lying to her all the time. Her MO also included trying to screw her employees out of their unemployment after firing them for standing up to her because she treated us like her personal slaves and would push everyone beyond their breaking points. Would constantly conflate personal issues, tasks and relationships with professional ones and expect everyone to be at her beck and call every minute of every day and night. Would ask for A to be done a certain way and then change her mind on a whim, become petulant about it not being done the way she wanted and ask for it to be redone a different way, then change her mind again because she had always wanted the original way.
