Pluspunten
Remote work. Nice office if you want to come. Ok base salary (but not the rest of the compensation package - minimal stock options, weak health insurance plan, no 401k matching).
Minpunten
Tech stack is outdated, which limits professional development. Their environment is becoming highly toxic as the company is becoming more and more desperate due to financial and investor pressure and competition eating away at its market share. Managers yell at their employees. CTO sends out emails to the entire company berating people he just fired. Unlimited time off is the biggest scam. You have to beg for every day you take off, and give them multiple weeks notice, but they lie to job candidates during the interview process, and make it seem like it's a wonderful place to work at. As they are becoming more desperate due to financial difficulties, they have started monitoring their employees very closely and pitting them against each other, tracking many metrics, like number of tickets resolved, PRs merged, commits made, screen time, and even keystroke activity! It's become unbearable. Joining Addepar at this stage offers little if any upside in equity growth because the big equity growth has already happened. Now the company's growth has plateaued, and since they only offer stock options, not outright stocks, your shares are worthless unless company valuation climbs, and they don't issue more stocks to dilute your share. Now the trend has reversed and they are losing market share to their more nimble competitors (CTO complained about that in a recent town hall), and this is leading them to become desperate and resort to unethical tactics, like firing employees right before their options vest, bias against employees with families, and blatant lies to prospective hires.
