Compensation & benefits sometimes but it totally depends on team. If you are with team where regularly you are getting compensations then you will not face situation.

Constant lay-offs causing low employee morale and low job security. No salary increases in the US for past 2 years and told you are "a high cost resource", which devalues employees' contributions.
