They are rolling out several /hr initiatives to focus on employee engagement which is definetly a plus. The people at the company are very nice. People are very open to having "cofee chats" with them so you may learn about their role or business. Amex is very strong on focusing on employee development. There are several online, on the job training and classroom opportunities. Also there is a big focus on healthy living. Alot of initiatives such as health coaches, gym membership discounts etc have been created to promote healthy living.
Minpunten
There is lack of career movement or progression. People remain in role for 3+ years. If you are an external hire your previous experience does not count at AMEX especially if you are trying to advance to the next level. It is also hard to move laterally as well. People movement is very slow at this company. The culture is also known as being very passive aggressive. It is hard to obtain strong, direct feedback.
