This company has an admirable mission and the office is nice. There are some very talented people who genuinely try to make a difference. Working there has given me a new appreciation for what really matters in life.

One of the most dysfunctional work environments I've ever experienced. Morale is terrible. Lots of sad, unfulfilled people walking the halls, along with a sprinkling of cocky egotists that are defined by their careers and will do whatever it takes to get ahead. The building is half empty, so that's also quite depressing. People who are miserable talk about quitting all the time, but they have nowhere else to go locally so they stay and suck as much salary as they can from the company. They don't produce anything of value because they are totally burnt out and/or were never good at their jobs but managed to play the system. Company has trouble getting people to relocate here, so this deadwood stays in place at obscene salaries. The amount of money wasted by corporate is mind boggling, yet entry-level production workers in Queensbury and Glens Falls - who are assembling life-saving medical devices - make less per hour than my teenager who works in the fast food industry. Lots of products are well beyond maturity, or have commodity status, with little investment being made. Even new and innovative product ideas struggle to get money and resources behind them. Policies and processes are so ridiculously detailed and restrictive that it's hard to realize even the smallest improvements. Executive leadership is perceived as largely ineffective and completely apathetic to the needs of their employees. They exhibit little to no distinctive personalities and function with a 90's mentality that if people aren't seen they aren't working, which shows little to no respect for, or trust in, their knowledge workers. Many believe CEO is only there to prepare the company for sale so he and his team can have a big payday. CFO has a very inappropriate sense of humor that offends both female and male staff members. He needs to be reined in by HR, but that department is a skeleton crew since the new SVP took over last year and a mass exodus soon followed. It's a broken company and the damage done over the years might not be reparable.
