Pluspunten
The workload is intense. You're expected to manage way too many projects at any one time - with no support from the sales, bid, design teams or resources and management. But if you can tread water long enough, you manage to get used the out dated way of working. Then you build some resilience and knowledge that will really help you in future jobs. The range of clients that BYG has are great to name drop in interviews. The majority of the people you work alongside are lovely. You are all going through the same daily stress, so there's certainly an internal support group from those who sit around you.
Minpunten
The fake reviews being posted recently are truly insulting to all of the colleagues who worked/work here. None of these reviews highlight the genuine terrible things that happen at BYG. Your employees know these are fake. They're either entertained or disgusted at your cheap behaviour. Why don't you spend time implementing real positive change, to generate real positive reviews? You're expected to work overtime as standard, for no reward or pay. As a fake review claims - 'you have to work an extra hour to get the job done'. This is an understatement. You will work 2+ hours overtime every day as standard practice. This has a huge negative impact on your personal life and mental health. Seeing the people you work alongside, crying behind their desk at 7pm with no support from management is a difficult thing to witness. Or experience. The management team is a mixed bag. There are a few managers who have no idea what they are doing. And they barely lift a finger unless asked. But these are harmless compared to the senior managers - who like the MD, are abusive, sexist and homophobic. They run their departments like a school playground. They often scream and scold employees for no real reason. Bully them out of the business. Or sexually harass the colleagues they manage. Both in and outside of work hours. It's quite hard to get away from unless you leave. The perks are poor. There are no real benefits or bonuses from working here, compared to almost every other company around Nottingham. The office is falling apart. Mouldy bathrooms. A broken heating system. No air con - which means you're baking in summer time. At least twice - someone defecated on the floor. It would appear that some colleagues believe - if you work in a rubbish dump, then you'll treat it like one.
