The discount is the best reason to work at Best Buy. Also co-workers usually make the job enjoyable. There are a lot of younger people working the stores, so there can be a lot of High-School-like drama. It is also a great place to learn about new technologies. It's also satisfying when you know that you truely helped a customer solve a problem.
Minpunten
The pay is poor and it is difficult to get a raise. I started with a low salary of $7 / hr. I received high marks on my annual reviews, but the raises where always very low, and after 4 years, new hires were getting paid more than me for doing the same job that I have mastered. One of my biggest problems is Best Buy is the pressure given by management to upsell, attach, and sell service plans. I really like to help customers and get them what they need. I take care of them the best that can, making them truely happy with their purchases. I feel guilty up-selling them to something that I know they don't need. I always asked lifestyle questions, mentioned the services that Best Buy offers, and made recommendations that fit, but I will not pressure and manipulate people into thinking that they NEED something that they don't. By truely taking care of the customer, I know that they will come back and buy again from me. It takes someone with a broken moral compass to really make management happy Best Buy.
