I get to work at a company that develops products in the field of Robotics and AI, does in-house Manufacturing of industrial equipment, and is working to solve the worlds waste problems. BHS is local to me so I can go to work in office (something I feel is very important for culture and efficiency) and has an international footprint with an office in Europe.

I have spent a while thinking about how to highlight my position of issues at BHS. What I keep coming back to is that I have never worked at a perfect company (so I am rating on a curve [based on a 24 year career]). Every company I have worked for has gone through changes in management and business direction or issues with culture. So what I often ask myself is; is the work I do important to me and to my customers? YES. Is it challenging at times? YES. Do I feel fulfilled after completing a big project and seeing it reach its end user? Absolutely! There is always some level of growing pains and evolution within a company and BHS is no exception. In fact for a 50 year old company they have acquired multiple brands and technologies in the last 15 years and had to merge and integrate them into the portfolio. That's no easy task, but they are aware and working to build a strong organization and I feel that.

My experience at this company can be defined by a toxic work environment driven by a serious lack of leadership and organizational maturity. Upper management lacks basic people management skills and any meaningful experience in organizational development. Business processes are ad hoc at best — often nonexistent — and dictated by whoever is in charge that day. This absence of structure leads to constant chaos, inefficiency, and overwork. Employees are frequently frustrated, burned out, and undervalued. Suggestions for improvement are routinely ignored or dismissed. If you value professionalism, stability, or even basic operational clarity, I would advise looking elsewhere.
