Minimum wage, what that says is that if they could pay you less, they would. Minimum wage means a bad employer. If an employer only makes the minimum effort to pay employees, why would those employees have any incentive to put in anything other than minimum effort to the job? Think about that before you apply because that's who you'll be working with.
They regularly break established employee rights and say "Oh that's an ideal world" as a defence. No Butlin's it's the LAW. As an example, they stopped supplying vital PPE aprons, their excuse being "They don't use them at Minehead". They should have been prosecuted for that alone.
They actually had a sign on the wall that said, and I'm not kidding here. "Employees may not leave until all their tasks have been completed". Seriously, I even took a picture of it.
On several occasions they completely lost all hot water, And they expected us to continue cleaning equipment with cold water. The restaurant should have been shut down. The sanitation violations alone there were ridiculous.
I suffered prolonged physical and mental abuse by other employees. Management knew what was happening and they did nothing, just looked the other way, absolutely despicable. I am still suffering with mental health issues today as a result.
