Pluspunten
Autonomy Early start time 7-4 Friendly bro work environment HR is actually helpful. Max Hoynacki was a pleasure. Yearly company holiday casino raffle Some designers are now doing field work for testing. I'd assume that comes with a pay raise.
Minpunten
The engineers are all brilliant math wizards. If you are struggling with concepts they can become snide and condescending. This can lead to an environment where it does not feel comfortable to ask for help out of fear. This job is advertised as a designer position. If you go into it thinking it is closer to a drafting position with some math rather than a low voltage electrical engineer graduate position; you will not be happy. The guys working as designers have a background in radio frequency engineering for public safety. The training is mostly verbal with no documentation. The job is split between ranplan 3D modeling and then using a very fancy excel spreadsheet to fine tune your design and calculations. This is 90% of the job. This is free space path loss, bda gain, master and remote gain/power, channel power, composite power, donor loss, insertion loss, mobile side loss, downlink dominance etc. also you must know how to get your isolation between donor and service antennas according to IFC/NFPA standards and local jurisdictions. Other things to mention: extensive conversions between logarithmic and linear math aka dB Or decibel, dBm, dBi/dBd. If you are not an electrical engineer I do not recommend even trying and if you do, ask for your worth well above $30 an hour! They will low ball you in the $20's. You will need to be certified and pay to take the nicet certification for in building public safety. They reimburse you if you pass. This test is moderate difficulty and expensive.
