It's a great way to expand your automotive knowledge. The stuff I learned while working there is nearly invaluable. Some of the guys that worked with me really knew their stuff and always shared. Also, getting parts at commercial/wholesale cost is AWESOME.. saves so much money. They were pretty flexible with schedules and time off. You have the ability to become ASE certified, at company expense.
Minpunten
Management sucks. They provide next-to-no support or help. I'm not sure what idiot was in charge of purchasing, but an auto parts store should sell auto parts. Most of the time, we'd be selling tents, go-karts, mini-refrigerators, all kinds of frivolous off-brand junk instead of stocking more auto parts. And these frivolous items they wanted us to sell were generally garbage and 98% of them were returned. It was nice when 3 go-karts are returned on a slow-sales Sunday and your system showed a LOSS of 1200 dollars.. No profit at all, just pure loss. Then, Monday morning, the incompetent district manager would be calling, wondering why your store showed such a loss. They also hire people with NO automotive knowledge. Some of the employees didn't even know what kind of car they drove.
