Minpunten
You never know what kind of general counselors you will get, and some years it seems like they will hire literally anyone. I have had amazing general counselors who are hard-working and kind, and other years I have had general counselors who are incredibly lazy and hard to manage. There are cliques within the staff that can sometimes be hard to navigate and leave other employees feeling excluded and un-supported. Activities for younger children are not that great - the counselor is essentially a pre-school/Kindergarten teacher for most of the summer. Cultural appropriation (Native American memorabilia everywhere, yet there is no teaching of Native American culture or reverence for it, and most children that attend Mohawk are wealthy white children). No time for anything else during the summer. If you are a teacher, you are accustomed to using summer break for family vacations/trips. That is not really a tangible possibility when working here, unless you're just going on a weekend vacation. You will work from the day you get out of school until the day you go back.
