Pluspunten

Pros: I have worked for Campfire in various administrative and operations roles for more than 5 years. The company has provided me endless opportunities to learn new skills, take on new projects and positions within the company and carve out career path for myself after being out of the workforce for many years. The company has rewarded my hard work in terms of compensation, but also by allowing me the flexibility to be available for my children and family when required. As a small company, Campfire is able to treat each employee as an individual and consider the strengths and skills that each person brings to the team and utilize them accordingly. Though the hours and pace can sometimes be difficult, I feel the company makes an effort to balance the often intense work days and deadlines with humor and a light hearted atmosphere.

Minpunten

Cons: The demands and interactions at Campfire are intense and often require flexibility and frequent reprioritization. Career growth opportunities are available, but you need to carve them out for yourself and make them happen.

Company was very flexible during the hiring process was seamless, took care of immigration activities on my behalf and always kept me updated, was given opportunities to learn new areas of the business and contribute right away to the company, also flexible during Covid. Co-workers are always a joy to work with and ready to help out at any point.

Minpunten

There are always a lot of projects happening and changing priorities

There’s little to no positives here

Minpunten

This has been one of the most challenging work experiences I’ve ever endured. I was initially drawn to the company by the promise of a potential acquisition, which was expected to result in a substantial payout. However, instead of an acquisition, a private equity firm became the majority owner, and the acquisition never materialized. Following the takeover, the program tied to that potential payout was discontinued, leaving little incentive to remain at Campfire. The health insurance offered was both expensive and subpar. The 401(k) plan lacked any employer match, making it an unattractive investment option, and there was no bonus structure in place. Flexibility within the company was severely limited, with little allowance for personal availability. There was an ongoing expectation to ALWAYS be accessible, which became exhausting—especially given that the team was intentionally understaffed. At this point, I’m unsure what could improve the situation. The turnover rate remains high, largely due to the relentless pressure to perform.
