Capital One is a great place to work if you take advantage of the opportunities. They paid for me to complete my degree. And they offered a lot of free programs at work that could help you advance your computer skills and marketing skills. Most of the programs they offer are certified so you could add it to your resume and let it work for you at another employer. I have had more managers than I can count in my 8 years at Cap One but most were really good. The benefits packages were the best that I have seen compared with my friends. I enjoyed the flex time it created a good balance for me to tend to my family and go to school almost full time. I can't say that people who are on the phones get this kinda flexibility. Company sponsored team fun days were great!

I would agree with one of the other posters that when Nigel left it seemed the Spirit of the company left with him. At one point I was really excelling in promotions at the company and around 2005 I hit a brick wall. There were a lot of changes being made in how people could get promoted. I could watch certain associates come into a department and know that they were set aside for a promotion. It was weird like the management was waiting for the right moment to push someone who didn't know the work right into manager position ahead of people who posted for the job and had worked it for years. Then they came up with this new idea of how to promote and give bonuses based off of these manager round table discussions. Managers who you never worked for had a say in how much of a raise you would get. So if you were an introvert, you could forget about it. I watched many take on new projects and work hard only to be passed over by those who were "in" with management socially and not "in" on the work. Heartbreaking.
