Pluspunten

Cargas is a strong place to work and a solid entry point for those looking at the software industry in the Lancaster area. The people are supportive, collaborative, and genuinely care about one another. The company fosters strong working relationships across teams, and many employees are willing to invest time in helping others learn and grow.

Minpunten

Leadership changes at the VP and Director level have largely consisted of reorganizations and shifting priorities, rather than structural solutions to the core workload and resourcing challenges faced by mid-level teams and individual contributors. In practice, these changes have often added layers of process and approval, creating additional bottlenecks instead of improving execution. Although innovation team & framework were introduced, many meaningful initiatives, including Cargas Pay—were launched prior to the team’s formation. Several high-visibility efforts, such as the Acumatica launch, struggled in execution, and discussions around acquisitions often appeared to precede a clearly defined innovation strategy. While innovation is frequently emphasized in leadership and board messaging, there is limited data or measurable outcomes shared to demonstrate sustained, long-term impact. Is it innovation or just business progression?

Pluspunten

- Friendly + collaborative people make up most of the org - Nice office and local fare - Solid reputation within a few industry niches

Minpunten

- Pay is well below industry averages, which they say is because you can become an employee owner through buying their stock over years and years (if you have the spare cash because there are no performance based stock awards). Any cash bonuses they award have a hard cap for anyone outside of leadership or the board. - Bloated middle management, little room for advancement. HR prefers to hire externally rather than promoting internally for leadership positions and openings in general. - For being a VAR claiming expertise in CRM and ERP software, they cannot seem to adequately implement these systems for themselves causing headache and burnout for the boots on the ground. - Spends budget on external stakeholder events and networking for leadership rather than investing in the development of their customer-facing employees. - Offers hybrid and remote flexibility unevenly and unclearly. Some employees are allowed to move to different countries and do what they want, others are frowned at for not making the commute daily. - Culture seems great at first, but leans towards toxic positivity where no one wants to take any accountability. If you're local to Lancaster and know that you want to spend the rest of your life working here, you'll have a great time. If not, good luck.
