Fortune 500 company, great benefits and pay over all. The plants in the Hickory area are very clean, you could almost eat off of the floor. Both plants still have smoking areas. No one really has to work that hard. One great benefit is the bank of time that each employ gets. Right now, the telecom sector is a little soft and we have just been through a round of layoffs, maybe more to come. A lot of our work has gone to Mexico and seems that more may follow. CCS has became more impersonal since Corning has taken over completely from the days of SIECOR, which was a partnership between Corning and Siemens. Right now, it is hard to look to the future at Corning Cable Systems because of the economy and the recent layoffs. As I am still employed there, I hope things turn around for them once more so I will be able to retire from Corning.
