Pluspunten

Interessante technologie, al is het wel wat zwaar op verouderde legacy-services. Zeer goede balans tussen werk en privé. Thuiswerken is makkelijk en wordt ondersteund door het management.

Minpunten

Absoluut geen verandering in de SDLC-praktijken terwijl ik er was en geen gesprek hierover met het senior management. Elk softwareontwikkelingsteam definieerde zijn eigen werkwijzen zonder enige gemeenschappelijke kenmerken tussen de teams. Teams hadden geen enkel eigenaarschap over platformonderdelen en er was een vaststaande verwachting dat iedereen het hele systeem van top tot teen moest begrijpen en op elk moment aan die onderdelen moest kunnen werken, afgestemd op de behoeften van de bedrijfsleiding. Er zijn meer dan 600 GIT-repositories! Bedrijfseigenaren hadden geen idee van agile softwareontwikkelingspraktijken en wilden alles morgen al, zonder de garantie dat het team dat aan het werk was toegewezen ooit eerder in die sector had gewerkt. Het was een verpletterende mentale last die alleen enigszins werd verlicht door fatsoenlijke PTO, goede teammanagers en zeer weinig overuren.
