Pluspunten

Co-workers are like-minded and supportive

Minpunten

Management is very poor. Training is lackluster. Don't provide adequate protection for employees being repeatedly harassed by customers (refusing to ban non-paying, harassing "customers" from the store).

Minpunten

Working at Dangerfield was hands down one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made, and leaving was one of the best. My life improved tenfold the moment I walked away. Staff are treated as completely disposable, whether you’re a casual employee or a manager. The expectations are relentless and completely unsustainable. Burnout isn’t an exception, it’s the norm. And despite years of consistent feedback, nothing ever changes. When passionate, talented staff finally reach their breaking point and leave, the company doesn’t reflect or improve. They just bring in someone new who doesn’t know how bad it is. Then the cycle starts all over again. As a manager, there is absolutely no work life balance and you are paid the bare minimum. Head office is beyond disorganised and out of touch, which makes every day unnecessarily stressful. You’re constantly trying to stay on top of an endless, unmanageable influx of stock with little structure or support. It feels chaotic and never ending. On top of that, the stores themselves are often unsafe. Repeated feedback about workplace safety concerns are ignored, yet David Heeney, the CEO, seems more than happy to waste money on things like rolling out gaming gear into stores. When the gaming gear was introduced, it was honestly embarrassing for staff. There was no training provided and no time for staff to figure it out themselves, nor should they have to. People didn’t sign up to sell overpriced keyboards. The clothing itself has also gone downhill with more and more items made from cheap materials like polyester. As for the accessories, most are just repackaged AliExpress products with a heavy markup. It’s hard not to see Dangerfield for what it is now, fast fashion dressed up as something else. It’s honestly grim seeing the reality behind a brand I used to admire when I was younger. If you’re thinking about working at Dangerfield or any brand under Factory X, do yourself a favour and walk away before you get pulled into something that will chew you up and spit you out.
