Health Insurance is some of the BEST you will find anywhere! Employees who participate in the Health Assessment do not pay a monthly premium and family coverage is VERY reasonable. We do have a co-pay now but $10 for an office or urgent care visit is quite reasonable. Dental and vision insurance are offered as well which is a plus as it seems that a fair amount of employers in NW Minnesota do not offer vision coverage. Numerous opportunities to move into other positions within the company. Employee events and committees which offers lots of opportunities to get involved. EXCELLENT training programs available through Digi-Key University. Tuition reimbursement is even available for some fields of study at the local community college. Benefit lunches to help employees in need. Good summer weather. Lots of outdoor activities throughout the year. Thief River Falls cost of living is reasonable compared to many parts of the country. Housing prices/rents are even lower in some of the surrounding communities. On-site food vendors. This can be helpful as almost all departments only grant 30 mins for lunch. Free coffee and tea. Cake and fruit day once a month. Vending machine prices are fairly reasonable. Vast majority of people are very friendly and easy to get along with at work. Lots of opportunities to socialize. Overall very positive work environment. Vast majority of people work together to suceed and get the job done. Alternative shifts such as evenings, nights, four 10 hours days, three 12 hours days, etc. are available for some departments.

West lot parking is TERRIBLE, especially in the winter. The shuttle service does help if your arrival/departure times coincide with the shuttle operations schedule. If your start time is 7:30 am or earlier, it is much better compared to later start times wheras those working later shifts will have a MUCH longer walk Building seems to be too crowded during the core hours of the day and getting more crowded each day. Salaries for some positions are significantly below market (especially for college grads with a 4 year or higher degree). No paid sick leave. You are given 48 hours per year of unpaid personal/medical time. While you are paid for half of your unused personal/time, this is a HUGE negative. Sometimes you can make up the missed time or use paid vacation but this varies widely from one department to the next. Winter weather is VERY cold and windy. Blowing snow can be an issue at times for those living in surrounding communities and trying to commute to Thief River Falls. Pay is strictly based on seniority and job title. Everyone gets the same raise. Consequently, this does result in some employees doing the bare minimum.
