Pluspunten
They generally promote from within and because of their deep pockets, there are many oppurtunities to participate in new initiatives. Many locations if you are inclined to move around and try new things. The new(er) CEO had really purged much of the old guard and is a forward thinker.
Minpunten
Some of the old guard remains and they can be quite troublesome. Ecolab works very hard to retain employees and long term employment (30+ years) is not uncommon. Some of these people should have been purged long ago. I personally was managed by an individual who had been there over 20 years and in fact, Ecolab had been his only employer in life. While it is impressive that people can move up, it is also bothersome because having experience with only one employer tends to put blinders on you as a manager. He also was only able to mirror his previous bosses (old guard).
