Minpunten
Since Edelman was my first job out of college, and only job for the first 5 years of my career, I didn't know any differently. I thought every company treated junior staff poorly, had long hours with little pay and felt uncomfortable in their work environment on a regular basis. Now that I have taken a step back from this atmosphere and changed jobs, I am saddened that I allowed people to treat me the way they did for so long and put myself in a position to feel so suppressed/timid. I couldn't make real connections with people because of the hierarchal structure, I was scared to speak up on calls or in meetings because of the internal pressure and level fear, and my work felt grueling and inefficient. At my new job at a similar type of company, I am treated like a human being and truly valued for my work. Because of this, I am doing the best work of my life because I have the confidence, constant encouragement and support to do so. Edelman has a lot of potential to allow their workers to do their best work on really important projects, but the culture and toxicity from senior leadership seems to be getting in the way more often than not.
