Pluspunten
Eden gives its consultants a wide latitude to do their work, which will naturally undergo a rigorous and ongoing process of challenge, scrutiny, revamping, and refinement. The potential for growth and learning under such conditions is tremendous. A consultant has the freedom to propose and drive changes to the modus operandi of the firm, to generate their own thought pieces, to submit proposals for projects for which they are highly passionate, and work on tasks in a manner aligned to their personal style that maximizes their effectiveness. Of course, all these should be aligned to the mission and viability of Eden. The many spaces for consultation and collective decision-making give everyone a sense of ownership in what the firm does, and not just what affects their own projects. In this way, a consultant can drive many initiatives and engagements him- or herself, receiving the support of the managing partner, and learn as much or he or she likes. There is also a great team dynamic in which the consultants eat together as a team, at least when time permits. The team is also mindful of their physical wellness, so they go run or work out together at the Fitness First at the top floors of the building (for which membership Eden will pay half).
Minpunten
Because there is often no right or perfect answer, you may be left to your own devices to figure out what is the "right" way, and even what you think is "right" will still have elements wrong with it, which can leave one feeling without a foundation of growth or reference point. I personally felt under constant pressure to deliver and unable to step back and reflect, which seemed to be at odds with a process of learning. One should be able to overcome these difficulties with exemplary personal discipline and time dedication outside their immediate work to reflect on their growth and learning. Additionally, Eden has made significant progress in creating an onboarding program and creating individual learning roadmaps.
