Management just doesn't care about reality (mid level anyway). Experienced or not, all of their experience lies in Epic and Epic can't quite figure out how to grow out of it's little company pants. There few processes. You (as a developer) will be blamed for any and all resultant issues from your development regardless of who was involved in the initial design. TLs are chosen at random, are young, and the choices are completely insane. Most of the TLs I've met that have been there less than 3 years subsequently leave. Not everyone leaves because of how the company is, but little is done to encourage people to stay.
