Minpunten
As a recent graduate, I had high hopes for joining Fluor Canada, but my experience was overwhelmingly negative. My department manager was not only ineffective at training or mentoring new hires but also created a hostile work environment. Rather than fostering growth, the manager’s approach was dismissive, lacking in any constructive feedback, and often showed clear biases, which left many feeling alienated and unsupported. The office culture, particularly with the GAP (Graduates Advancing to Professionalism) program, was deeply disappointing. Instead of creating a space for new graduates to learn and grow together, the environment was filled with gossip, cliques, and unhealthy competition. Collaboration between team members was almost nonexistent, with individuals more focused on outperforming one another rather than working together towards common goals. The lack of guidance and a toxic atmosphere made it extremely challenging to develop professionally. While Fluor may have strong technical capabilities, its culture, especially in terms of how it treats new graduates, leaves much to be desired. I would strongly advise new graduates to look elsewhere if they value proper training, inclusivity, and a supportive work environment.
