I could go on but i will give a short summary. Management is toxic due to the nepotic nature of promotions. Sexist overtones are prevalent throughout the facility, significantly more than the societal norm. Management is incapable of objective thought, throughput is the highest priority. To that end scientific discourse is highly discouraged in an environment that dearly needs it. If you work here, regardless of what lab position you will be overworked and under appreciated. Lab staffing is bare bones at a maximum. Lab management has tendencies to be overly aggressive when the ridiculous standards are not being met, because of this lab staff turnover is very high.

The people in the Micro lab are great. All of the training and support comes from your coworkers, and they work really hard to keep things running. I made a few good friends here who honestly made the job tolerable.

Minpunten

This department tends to hire motivated recent graduates and then quickly traps them in repetitive, high‑volume work with very little opportunity to grow. The job itself is very routine at every level, and over time it starts to feel like your potential is being wasted completely. Management feels very distant from the team. Communication is minimal, and concerns employees bring up rarely lead to real change. The main focus seems to be pushing paperwork out on time and passing audits rather than improving the day to day work environment or supporting the people doing the actual work. From my experience, the workload gradually increased, but compensation did not. Annual performance reviews are based on outdated standards set decades ago, promotions are based on favoritism, and raises don’t seem connected to any actual performance or effort. I took this job because I was excited to use my science degree and start building a career. Instead, I literally spent 40 hours a week, every week, doing repetitive tasks that made me question whether I chose the right field at all. I’m thankful for the friends I made here, but I genuinely deeply regret staying as long as I did.
