Pluspunten
I was compensated fairly as a Maintenance Technician. There were good benefits like retirement matching, health, life, vision, and dental available. Management of my specific maintenance team was good. 12 Hour shifts allow for 3 day weekends every other week and have built in overtime. Pay differential for working night shifts. Good when there are more than the bare minimum number of people for the shift so there's less stress to call out and plan vacation time.
Minpunten
Every team is different and every manager is different which makes it difficult to tell if you will have a good or bad environment. 12 hour shifts were a slog most days. Schedule is on a rotating bi-weekly basis which means you never have the same day off consistently and can be tough to schedule around other things in life. There were mostly either days with heavy work load or light workload, leading to a lot of downtime some days and a lot of stressed work time, by the nature of tool failure and maintenance. Training was not standardized leading to irregularities in what people knew how to do. Communication between teams was difficult and limited. Lack of communication skills led to personality conflicts making a stressful environment more stressful. Mandatory to stay in cleanroom gear the entire shift except for lunch break. Not much in the way for mobility because for the most part every employee is needed where they are trained.
