HSBC is a global company that makes it a priority to encourage pursuit of a wide variety of opportunities in many different locations and disciplines. Therefore, a lot of the employees stay with this company for many years due to the opportunity to keep things fresh by trying different things within the company thus creating a more well rounded employee.

The downside of working for HSBC is the current market conditions as the majority of HSBC's North American operation deals with subprime lending which obviously is a risky area to be in right now. Also, the talent and leadership of Senior Management can be more consistent.
