Get to travel. As a shoppie, you don't technically have to work when the ship's in port. Recruitment process and inductions at head office for new starters is fantastic.
Minpunten
Very bad management in Head office. Specifically from the Crew Scheduling department. There is basically a complete lack of communication between the departments to the point where the employee has to actively email each department at least three or four times a week to gather any information but their excuse is 'because you've emailed two different departments in the same day then there's no official update'...??????? How is this company being run???........I think I've answered my own question when you take into account the extremely poor salary compared to what competitors can offer. It is a known fact that through year on year growth within Hardings, they haven't raised their cruise employees salaries in 10 years!!!! 10 YEARS!!!! A large amount of back-stabbing between new managers coming on-board, targeted at the previous managers they'd replaced due to contracts finishing. If you're looking for a company with progression, look elsewhere. It's a great opportunity to travel but even when you work your way up from a shoppie level to management, it means absolutely squat back on dry land.
