Pluspunten
Hollaback! continues to set industry standards for anti-harassment work in public and private spaces. Headquarters are in a small, tight-knit, Brooklyn office working under the current CEO (and founder) with other passionate and capable team members and interns. There is always work to be done and plenty of opportunities to grow as an activist and professional. I was fortunate enough to volunteer at the grassroots level and (after moving to Brooklyn) was able to bring my volunteer work into my professional career as both a temp office manager and then a contract worker within client services. It was great to see what all goes into tackling such a large social issue and how Hollaback! breaks it down and does the work at all levels (and all the time). From grassroots movements to workplace trainings, and from small community classes to global initiatives, there's always an opportunity to create a positive change and move the organization closer to its vision.
Minpunten
The scope of the work to be done can be daunting / emotionally trying at times. Hollaback! operates as a non-profit so there are times when you find yourself splitting time between the work that we organize to do and the work of keeping the lights on, but it's well worth the hard work.
