Pluspunten

Access to resources was the best compared to other schools I've worked in. Team of teachers was great and committed to helping students to be successful.

Minpunten

It was very difficult to walk into the building every day. Children were screaming and crying all day. Adults were regularly physically moving students against their own will. Long hours. I doubt that school leaders would enroll their students in the school. I felt that leaders believed that these students are different and "need more structure" which made the school culture and policies feel like textbook "Prison-to-Pipeline" . It felt like this place was not for experienced teachers. They prefer new to teaching staff that could be molded to agree with their policies. Teachers who shared differing opinions were not asked back. Special education services didn't appear to be well developed. I'm not sure that students were receiving services on their IEPS.

Pluspunten

Pay is fair if you work there for some years. Good benefits. Great Teachers Support amongst teams

Minpunten

EXTREMELY HIGH TURNOVER! Out of touch with the community. Poor leadership support. Leadership lacks understanding of how to coach certain students that need support. They judge your “anonymous” surveys The Principal is allowed to create their own policies which are not in the handbook. The elementary Principal is in place due to nepotism and operates on their own terms. Leadership cannot demonstrate how to teach a lesson to classes yet they can grade you. The elementary principal will undermine your knowledge of culture. Leadership shuns advocacy yet promotes it in training. Teammates are timid to speak up because of witness retaliation. SPED leadership practices unsafe solutions. The Dean has no clue what they’re doing. You can help build up their establishment and they will disregard you without blinking once you speak up or disagree with something that’s wrong.
