Pluspunten
IC is a special organization founded with passion, empathy, and energy--all of which have built a unique organizational culture, a vital human-rights movement, and a new media model that will be studied for years to come. Its programs in East Africa have made considerable progress in recovery efforts there and have been facilitated largely by East Africans, as they should be. I met many a tireless, dedicated staff member while working for them.
Minpunten
The same passion that founded an incredible organization full of artists and designers and dreamers created limitations, e.g. few US staff experienced in real-deal human rights work. This is not wholly a bad thing, but it can be problematic since best-practice service and funding models add to organizational longevity and depth. Also, IC phased out of many East African regions in 2014 quite suddenly, leaving dozens of its staff without jobs and hundreds of its beneficiaries without programming that was improving their livelihoods.
