Get your foot in the door for a federal position. A lot of post docs convert to working on the contract for Jacobs. If you don't want to work hard it will take a long time for someone to notice.

Management doesn't trust employees, there is a lot of micromanagement. Salaries vary wildly for people with the same level of experiences/job description.
