Minpunten
DJS/SJS/KGL/what-have-you was never amazing to work for, but went rapidly downhill the last few years. While teams had always been thinly staffed, hiring freezes combined with new tech initiatives meant all staff were overworked, always. Things got worse after the company merged with a competitor and quickly switched to their composition team and adopted their editing platform. This was pushed live before beta testing, resulting in customers and authors furious that the platform didn't work and major ongoing publication delays. At the end of my time there, I was working 14-hour days for well under 50k (no overtime) and still woefully behind because staffing was half of what it should have been. Upper management wouldn't hire skilled applicants because they "asked for too much money."
