Pluspunten
I worked here for about 4 years and started at a low level support position for a project manager. During that time I was able to carve my own path, take on new responsibilities, increase my salary and so much more. Management was fairly flat when I first begun but as the company grew, so did opportunities for middle management for those that showed initiative, drive and genuine interest in the company's' success. They also treat all employees to numerous breakfasts, lunches, Starbucks runs, and the like throughout the year. They're engaging, personable, and fun to be around. Being a smaller company, as an employee you're empowered with the ability to break-down tasks and provide feedback on ways to increase productivity, accuracy, etc. directly to upper management which is what I did and how I personally was able to move up. I think I've held something close to (25) jobs now and Kwalu was my favorite because of the people, the work, and the rewards. There's no fear-mongering, no chastising, no closed doors, no reasonable request that would be turned down. I learned best practices here that will serve me for the rest of my career. The VP is on a whole other level of management and I was fortunate to have worked with her. As for benefits, I had full health coverage which the company paid a chunk of. They had a high deductible option as well as vision, dental, and 401K plans w/ company contributions. I was able to take any day off I needed, even under short notice, could work flex hours, and come in late or leave early if needed, all without push-back. For the record, I'm not related to anyone and most certainly didn't experience nepotism as stated by others. There are a few people who are related but they've essentially been in the same position since I've started thus any advance was through hard work and seniority. I only left to, ironically, work for family in another state otherwise I'd still be there. Should things go south where I'm at, I'm going to ask for my job back for all the reasons listed above.
Minpunten
Like any company, you have a few sour apples that attempt to spread negativity and it seems like a few falling into that category have tried to do so again here on Glassdoor. The only "cons" I experienced were former employees who were lazy, incompetent, and/or just didn't care and that made my job harder. Kwalu is and promotes a team atmosphere. There are numerous departments with each relying on the other in order to move the process along so all it takes is one person to slow it down. We underwent tremendous growth and hired some people that shouldn't have made the cut. Fortunately, changes were made and those troublemakers gone.
