Pluspunten
There are a lot of qualified mission-driven staff and managers who really care about the work. There is also a good benefits package.
Minpunten
A new management team started working in the Policy and Planning Department at LAHSA in 2016/2017. They began micro-managing staff and implementing unethical business practices. Staff worked up to 12-14 hour days of uncompensated overtime due to a lack of management planning in the Department. As a result of management’s resistance or inability to plan, staff often had to stay late putting out fires or operating in crisis management mode. While working there, I saw the new(est) Policy Manager put several of my diligent coworkers on performance improvement plans, fired or scapegoated for issues that were management’s fault. Management would also request work assignments with a couple hour turnaround time, which was often followed by sitting on management desks for days or sometimes weeks at a time. Their reactive leadership style and unreasonable demands created a toxic work environment.
