Lanzatech's mission could not be better. You really are working on technology that can save the planet and you go home feeling good. Location is very convenient to public transit. A lot of cool and good people.

The middle tier of this company is absolutely stuffed with underperforming staff hired in New Zealand that the company can't seem to get rid of. These staff could never get an equivalent job in the USA so they don't quit, they just hang around forever in what is effectively a sinecure holding the company back. It wouldn't be so bad if they were sidelined, but they form a cohort and try to protect the little rut they've made for themselves by kneecapping the people who actually accomplish stuff (and make them look bad). Worse, since they don't ever quit its impossible for up-and-coming staff to actually progress since there are never any vacancies, which then forces that promising talent out the door. All of their best talent eventually quits, but those New Zealand era hires... they stick around. Its a shame because this company has legitimately revolutionary technology that deserves and NEEDS to succeed.
