Minpunten
They are extremely gifted at selling you a company that is empathetic and transparent, but when it comes down to it, it is all talk. The work load is insane, and they encourage you to communicate with them. When you do, they do not provide any help or support. They pretend to care about your well being, but are obsessed with numbers and metrics, and it feels like you’re never doing enough. Workers are extremely stressed and burnt out. Coworkers have told me they struggle with anxiety and depression over this job and have a hard time with work life balance. Job is strictly 9-6 even though staff continues to ask for a more flexible/4 day work week. We are expected to go above and beyond for customers (even while enduring extremely mad, mean people), so in a large company you would think that schedule flexibility to help an employees mental state would be considered. In a group setting they refuse to answer questions about certain topics and tell you to speak with a manager in private. When you do, there is no answers or solutions there either, and you are stuck in an endless loop of non answers. Pay transparency has been requested and shut down on multiple occasions. People are hired and promoted at completely different wages. Management will talk at you and not with you. When expressing clarification or professional disagreement, they will roll their eyes and talk over you, which is quite shocking and inappropriate. This has become an increasingly corporate environment, which is fine, but do not preach empathy if you cannot walk the walk. It feels like there is never enough people to support the continued increase in claims, but almost every large meeting we get reminded how much money is being made. While I expected many changes with a start up, I feel like I need to relearn my job every week. The number of inconsistencies in protocol and policy decisions are incredibly frustrating, as you will get different answers from different people, then have to take more time to fix ‘your’ mistake. It is also difficult to trust a company that is willing to switch peoples job titles and duties without choice. They will change you from a claims adjuster (the job you signed up for) to 100% customer service rep and not give you a choice. They will act like they did you a favor in being transparent for telling you about this ahead of time. As other posts have mentioned, there is a lot of toxic positivity, which makes you feel worse when you are drowning in work. If it weren’t for the pay, benefits, and work from home, I would already be gone. Hoping to find a job with less stress and more actual empathy for their employees.
