This really was a great company, a blend of "old economy" manufacturing and operational sense with "new economy" innovation and customer-focus. The company is (was) dedicated to making an impact on their employees and their community: "We the employees ARE Lexmark" used to be true.

It's difficult to overstate how lost this company is right now. The Kofax carpetbagger took ES, ravaged it, and now Lenexa is a ghost town. We're up for sale. Nobody wants to buy us. We have a bloated R&D spend, but they won't cut managers, just employees. Managers still act like nothing is wrong, like "this too shall pass". Not this time
