Event Coordinator / Server / Brand Ambassador / Banquet Attendant **UPDATED REVIEW I ***HAD been working at Main Event (FULL-TIME, although I was hired for) part-time for more than a year Pros - Flexible Hours - School Tuition reimbursement (really nice if you're in college) Each year you work with the company, the rates of which you'll receive reimbursement will increase slightly - Fast-paced environment - Do not have to tip out to others at the end of your shift (but you should tip out a few dollars to team service/food runners because they'll become loyal to you for it) - Radios used for easy & effective communication between staff members - Moving up in the company is encouraged and fun to work towards - If you are promoted to working the banquets, you can make $100-$300 in gratuity alone - VP and higher-ups will come visit your store location and they're very friendly and will go out of their way to smile and say hello and ask about your work experience - Romantic Workplace relationships are very common here (awe, cute) and as long as you treat your significant other equal in regards to all other employees, you both (together or separately) can move up in the company without issue (Sometimes the other person in the relationship Will have to move to a different Main Event location; it Really depends on a lot of different factors)

**UPDATED ANALYSIS For me, it came down to management within the sales office. Outside operations were good. But, in my sales experience with ME, I was exceeding sales targets with promises of rewards, and they never held to their word. Also, my sales manager was not fulfilling her responsibilities, instead pushing them onto her hourly workers. I was able to thrive in these Extra responsibilities such as sales blitzing, cold calling, and prospecting, but- I wasn't receiving the proper compensation for all this extra work my co-workers and I were accomplishing. ALSO, I was hired for a part-time position. We were understaffed, underpaid, and overworked. Whenever I was sick and had a fever, it was understood that I still had to come into work. This lead to unpleasant experiences, like me having to excuse myself in front of guests' to go be sick in the bathroom. When you come back into the office after THROWING UP in the restrooms, and your manager says you are being Dramatic???? Do you not see what. is. wrong here. No fun. They took advantage of me and my hard work, so I resigned from my position. It took me a year, but I stood up for myself. It's sad that it ended that way, but you live and you learn. I have higher standards for the company I'm devoting my success and energy to. NCO training was not very thorough - Long Hours (8 to 10 hour shifts are the average) - Aching feet - Slow business weekdays during the school year - It's easy for guests to walk-out when you're serving on the bowling lanes - Tips will be a bit less because guests want to spend their money on other activities and don't prioritize wait staff - No breaks on weekends -The only time you can take a break is if business is slower - Oftentimes you get off work later than you're scheduled (I dont mind staying, but this can be a big problem for others) - High-stress job - Guest complaints Will happen & sometimes the situation will be out of your control (food coming out late from the kitchen, food not tasting right, food temp) - Work-life balance is hard when you work full-time - Staying and closing until 2 - 4 AM on weekends & Mondays (during Summer) - Must cover all tattoos and piercings and only natural hair colors are allowed REVISED *** I believe this rule was changed after I left. Hair colors and tasteful tattoos were allowed for serving staff - High-turnover rate in the service department

Minpunten

High-Stress Environment Events can be chaotic, especially large-scale ones with last-minute changes. Pressure to satisfy clients while managing staff can be intense. Repetitive or Entry-Level Tasks Many tasks (setup, cleanup, check-ins) can feel routine and physically demanding. Limited strategic responsibility unless you actively seek it. Low to Moderate Pay Event staff and coordinators often make minimum wage or slightly above unless in a managerial role. Pay may not match the level of effort or hours worked, especially on weekends/holidays. Limited Career Advancement Without Moving Roles Advancement can be slow unless you transition into management or corporate office positions. Event experience may not directly translate into higher-level roles outside entertainment if not framed properly on a resume. Inconsistent Hours Busy seasons may require long shifts; off-season can mean fewer hours. Scheduling may not be predictable.
