I have worked at Mainline Health since 2005 and plan to retire here. One of the best parts of working for a large health system is that you have the ability to change to a different location if you want a change in career or focus or location. My managers are phenomenal- they understand work/life balance- we all have obligations outside of working and recognization of how important family is helps keep me a valued employee. MLH has amazing benefits- healthcare is phenomenal (especially when you go to a MLH facility). But tuition.io (MLH free benefit) helped me sort out the loan forgiveness process. I value the transparency at MLH- we have monthly online town hall meetings where the CEO and Chief Nursing Officer review all events and issues and offer opportunities to ask questions in the chat. Finally- I'm so proud to be part of a health system that has a goal of decreasing health inequities and supporting DREI initiatives. MLH is proud to offer inclusive and affirming care for the LGBTQ+ community through our Inclusive Care program. I especially appreciate the variety of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) made up of employees and allies of different backgrounds to provide insight about how to best care for our patients, ourselves, and the communities.

My experience at Main Line Health was disappointing due to ongoing concerns about leadership, fairness, and workplace culture. In the Home Health department, I observed inconsistent management practices, unequal treatment of employees, and a lack of accountability from leadership. As a minority employee, I experienced and witnessed what I believed to be unfair treatment of employees of color. There appeared to be disparities in opportunities, treatment, and compensation that contributed to a workplace culture where many minority employees did not feel equally valued or supported. I made multiple attempts to address these concerns through Human Resources in good faith, hoping they would be handled professionally and confidentially. Instead, I experienced what I believed to be breaches of confidentiality, with information I shared appearing to be disclosed to other employees. This significantly undermined my trust in the HR process and made it difficult to feel comfortable raising additional concerns. Management often failed to address employee concerns appropriately, leading to low morale, high turnover, and a culture where staff did not feel heard. Rather than fostering collaboration and respect, leadership frequently created an environment that felt unsupportive and inequitable.
